Meet the Founder

Jonathan Miller, M.Ed., has worked in higher education as a professional staff member and adjunct faculty member. His staff experience spans from student organization training/development and student government to disability/accessibility support services. His teaching has focused on the "First-Year Student Experience" at American University in Washington, D.C. Additionally, Jonathan has presented at a multitude of conferences, including NASPA (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators) and enjoys speaking with high school students about the transition process. These experiences have allowed him to see Higher Education and the college experience from a diversity of perspectives. This journey has provided the foundation for the services offered by Skills To Launch. Take a look below to find out more.

Why "Skills To Launch?"

Jonathan decided to create Skills to Launch in order to provide the knowledge he has accrued during his time in the field to you. During his ongoing career in Higher Education he has spent time at Penn State University in State College, PA, Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ, Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, and American University in Washington, D.C.

During this time Jonathan has built an extensive network of colleagues across the country whose work spans from small private liberal arts colleges to large state universities. He has long felt that the shroud that exists surrounding the college environment can create significant challenges for students and their families. He hopes to be able to peel back that curtain so that the process of applying to school and navigating the college environment is the experience that it should be for students—a place to learn about yourself, sharpen your skills, and set the foundation for the next steps of your life.

A Note from Jonathan:

Whether you are looking for support with the admission/application process, are interested in one of our transition programs and/or are looking for disability/accessibility related support we are here to serve your needs.

We commit our full energy, resources, and prior experience to develop a unique plan for students and their families. This is bigger than just applying to college or submitting documentationthis process is often the beginning of students taking more significant ownership over their experiences and decisions. Often students may struggle with writing, organization, planning, timeliness, and communication; we are passionate about honing these skills along the way. It is a process, and not one that can be rushed.
